Description
The LoRa serial modem is a good option for sending RTK correction data when you operate a rover and base station. Serial modem software and hardware designs are available at our GitHub repository. The serial modem plugs into our TinkerNav RTK GNSS board as one option for sending/receiving RTK correction data. Both the base station and the rover need a TinkerNav module with TinkerSend – LoRa to use the LoRa capability.
TinkerSend – LoRa is based on the Semtech SX1262 radio. This radio uses the license free 900 MHz band with a range of 7-10 km line of sight.
Plug an antenna into either the SMA or U.FL adapters for flexible antenna solutions. A quarter wave 915 MHz antenna is included ,or purchase an upgraded antenna for additional range.
Hardware
The schematic below shows the electrical connections on the TinkerSend – Lora module. TinkerSend includes the SX1262 module, an SMA connector for the LoRa antenna, decoupling capacitors, and headers. The headers connect to TinkerNav for power, SPI communication, plus two additional GPIOs for DIO1 and RESET. The other header connections are not connected.
